Allow the machine to cool without unplugging. Soldering Iron: 1. Before use: wet and squeeze out sponge. Soldering tip needs regular cleaning. 2. During use: soldering at lower temperatures will help prevent oxidization. Do not press the tip against hard surfaces, as this will cause it to bend and warp. Re-apply tin to tip after use regularly to lengthen machine life. Clean off black oxide by setting to 250 degrees, wiping with wet sponge and coating with fresh tin 3. After use: allow temperature to settle at 250 degrees celsius, clean tip and apply light new layer of tin for protection.
